Let me tell you, as a professional DJ, (I know, you've heard this line before)...and I have been considering making the leap to from turntables and CDJs to the digital world of DJing. (been Djing since '85 and do mostly retro 80's nights at clubs)I can tell you that for those wishing to start DJing (high school kids for example) or make the transition from CDJs and the like, this is a great product to test the waters; it's a no-brainer.For $75, you get a full 4 deck (4 players) software package from Mixvibes (a French company that makes software and hardware), a splitter for the audio out on your computer or laptop (can be routed so that one side is audio out and the other is headphones OR two audio outs that plug into a mixer) and no external hardware needed to control the software (i.e. internal mode.)The software is not Serato, Traktor and it's not Virtual DJ...it is Mixvibes' own thing called Cross and it's quite stable and very user friendly. The best part of the software is the ability to use two of the 4 playback decks as video players. You can mix music videos, play loops, apply affects to the videos and even throw up basic text (like the night of your gig or your DJ name...nothing too fancy). The videos can be played independently from the the master audio out. You can also separate the crossfader so that the audio mix and video mix happen when you want them.... or you can lock them together. The "sync" button doesn't always work so don't rely on it but it's nice to have when it does. Did I mention that you can record your audio and if you have an internet connection, you can play Soundcloud files. There is a lot going on here. The headphones are not light cheapy phones either, they are good midrange quality headphones that feel solid and sound very good given the total price of the package.I have been using Mixvibes products on my i-devices like the phone and the pad and they work great as well. All in all, I am surprised that more DJs are not using their stuff. In fact, last night, I had a Serato DJ ask me what I was using because he was impressed with what I was able to do. The application is stable but I would recommend a quad-core i7 laptop for flawless functionality when running videos as well as 4 or more gigs of ram. and don't run it an an AMD machine. If you just want to do music, the minimum specs are dual core intel and 2 gigs of ram.The end result is that due to my experience with this kit, I will be buying a controller from Mixvibes. The only question is, what are you waiting for? It's affordable, it's good quality and very stable. Sure, it's not Serato, but that's just a name and for beginners, it's has to be the best product in that price range... Read it again, Headphones, Full Software, Audio Splitter for $75.Just do it! You won't be sorry you did; i'm not.
